New Parliament Session India: The New Parliament building in India is gearing up for a historic session. According to inside sources, the upcoming special session, planned from September 18 to 22, will commence in the old building and transition to the newly inaugurated New Parliament. This transition signifies a momentous occasion, as it marks the first session to be held in the new establishment since its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28.
In addition to this historic move, a ceremonial flag hoisting of the Tricolour is scheduled at the New Parliament building on September 17, coinciding with Vishwakarma Puja. The date is doubly significant as it is also the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The symbolism of the hoisting event will mark a new chapter in the country’s parliamentary history.
The Central Public Works Department (CPWD), the agency responsible for constructing the new edifice, has already initiated preparations for the national flag-hoisting function at Gaj Dwar, one of the three ceremonial entrances to the new building. This event is especially noteworthy as it will be the inaugural ceremonial flag hoisting at the new structure.
To ensure the seamless conduct of the session, senior officials from the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry and CPWD inspected the New Parliament on Tuesday. Their checks were comprehensive, ranging from assessing the audio levels in the Rajya Sabha chamber to ensuring the optimal functioning of multimedia systems for MPs. Given the importance of this session, the establishment is also setting up an additional control room to handle any unforeseen issues, complementing the existing Integrated Building Management System control room. Adding to the list of operational functionalities, the cafes and kitchens within the building are expected to be in service during the session.
After hosting the special session, the New Parliament is slated to welcome speakers from G20 nations’ legislatures for the Parliament20 meeting scheduled for October 13-14. This sequence of events underscores the importance and preparedness attached to the New Parliament, making it a focal point of national and international attention.
